Kambakkht Ishq (KI) was the most awaited film this year and true to its hype Sajid Nadiadwala’s Hollywood-meets-Bollywood larger than life extravaganza shattered all records.

The opening it received was bigger than that of Ghajini, Singh Is Kinng and Welcome. Sajid has hit the jackpot with this one yet again proving himself to be among Bollywood’s most successful producers. Kareena, who topped the power list last year, is all set to do the same this year with this money spinner. KI has also been lapped up by the international media. A magazine has raved about the film and says, ‘KI has only one desire and that is to entertain’. No wonder then that the audience can’t get enough of this film.

Talking about trade figures, we got to know that the paid previews of KI were a complete sell out. In Mumbai alone 62 theatres that screened the paid preview garnered 100 per cent collection. In most places the early morning shows registered around 90-95 per cent bookings.

Places like Rohtak, Punjab, collected 55,000 net out of 60,000. Amritsar and other such centres will collect Rs 1 Lac. Lucknow showed around 90-95 per cent booking for the morning shows. “Audience reactions are very positive,” says trade-analyst Taran Adarsh. Up North on Friday the movie has turned out to be a bigger hit than Ghajini. “It has shattered all records, “says Taran Adarsh.
