Kambakht Ishq shattered all records at Box office

Kambakkht Ishq (KI) was the most awaited film this year and true to its hype Sajid Nadiadwala’s Hollywood-meets-Bollywood larger than life extravaganza shattered all records.

The opening it received was bigger than that of Ghajini, Singh Is Kinng and Welcome. Sajid has hit the jackpot with this one yet again proving himself to be among Bollywood’s most successful producers. Kareena, who topped the power list last year, is all set to do the same this year with this money spinner. KI has also been lapped up by the international media. A magazine has raved about the film and says, ‘KI has only one desire and that is to entertain’. No wonder then that the audience can’t get enough of this film.

Talking about trade figures, we got to know that the paid previews of KI were a complete sell out. In Mumbai alone 62 theatres that screened the paid preview garnered 100 per cent collection. In most places the early morning shows registered around 90-95 per cent bookings.

Places like Rohtak, Punjab, collected 55,000 net out of 60,000. Amritsar and other such centres will collect Rs 1 Lac. Lucknow showed around 90-95 per cent booking for the morning shows. “Audience reactions are very positive,” says trade-analyst Taran Adarsh. Up North on Friday the movie has turned out to be a bigger hit than Ghajini. “It has shattered all records, “says Taran Adarsh.

Trisha is always the busy actress, shuttling between Hyderabad and Trisha's first Bollywood filmChennai every week, and with many assignments in her kitty. She is now very happy that she will be playing the lead role opposite Akshay Kumar in Khatta Meeta directed by Priyadarshan. The offer to star opposite Akshay Kumar in a Bollywood flick didn't come overnight. Trisha has gone through a lot of difficulties and has really worked hard to earn this. Now this could be her passport to stardom in Bollywood. And the actress is not worried at all. She takes life as it comes and is very confident. Trisha now has a couple of Tamil films in hand apart from a Telugu film which she expects to wrap up by October!

The media coverage of Michael Jackson's funeral tops the list of 'celebrity deaths' like those of Pope John Paul II, Princess Diana and Mother Teresa, according to a study Jackson's death also became the second top story of the 21st century for mainstream and Internet media, only trailing the election of Barack Obama as president of the US. Measured by the coverage in global print and electronic media from the day of death to the day after funeral, Jackson was way above the rest in cases since 1997.

In its analysis, Global Language Monitor (GLM) found that the death, aftermath, and funeral of Jackson had about 18 per cent more stories in the global print and electronic media than that of Pope John Paul II in 2005.

The analysis covered the top 5,000 print and electronic media sites, but excluded blogs and social media since they did not have a significant presence throughout the entire period of measurement.

Jackson's death and the media frenzy surrounding of its aftermath and his funeral has moved him to the forefront of coverage of similar prominent deaths over the last dozen years," said Paul J J Payack, president and chief word analyst of GLM.
